XR & VR
IN CHESHIRE.

I am based in Congleton in Cheshire, about 25 miles south of Manchester, and most of my development work is remote, however, I am available for on-site work in the surrounding areas.

01

ON-SITE ACROSS CHESHIRE AND MANCHESTER

There are three kinds of job where being nearby actually matters.

The first is installing things. A touchscreen in a reception area, a kiosk on an exhibition stand, or a set of headsets that need charging and updating and locking down before the doors open. Somebody has to be there and do it. It does not work over the phone.

The second is event support. If your stand opens at nine and something stops working at half past, you need somebody who can actually get to you that morning rather than the next day. I travel for congresses anywhere in the country, but for Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds or most of the North West I can be there the same morning and get home again.

The third is scoping. Sitting in a room for a day with the people who know the process is usually quicker than a month of emails going back and forth. It is also the cheapest way to find out whether a project is worth doing at all.

02

WHAT NORTH WEST COMPANIES ASK FOR

Most of my client work over the last ten years has been pharma and medical, mainly through agencies in London and the North West. The technology underneath it is not sector specific though.

A VR build that trains somebody on a clinical procedure will train somebody on a machine changeover. There is not much difference in the work. An AR tool built for a drug delivery mechanism does the same job for a gearbox.

Manufacturing, engineering, chemicals and logistics are all over this part of the country, and they have ended up with the same problem the pharma clients have. Some things are expensive to train on and dangerous to get wrong. That is what makes one of these worth building at the moment.

03

TRAVEL AND ON-SITE RATES

Day rate is £600, half day is £300, and ad hoc support is £75 an hour. Those are the same wherever the work is.

I do not charge travel inside about an hour of Congleton. That covers most of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Stoke and parts of Merseyside and Derbyshire. Past that I charge travel at cost, and we agree it before it happens rather than after.

Full project ranges are on the pricing page.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Are you available for on-site work in Manchester?

Yes. Congleton is about 45 minutes from the centre of Manchester, so I can do a morning start and get home the same day.

How far will you travel?

Anywhere really, for the right project. Inside about an hour of Congleton there is no travel charge, and that covers most of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Stoke and Merseyside. Further out I charge at cost and we agree it first.

Do you only work with pharma companies?

No. Most of the last ten years has been medical and pharma, but the work underneath is Unity, VR, AR and real-time 3D. That applies to manufacturing, engineering, education and events the same way.

Can you come in for a scoping day before we commit to a build?

Yes, and it is the sensible way round. A half day or a day on site is the cheapest way to find out whether a project is worth doing, and you get a fixed-price quote at the end of it.

Are you available for short contracts?

Yes. Ad hoc work is billed hourly and I take short pieces on alongside longer builds. Availability moves around, so it is worth asking what is free at the moment.

Do you work with local agencies as a subcontractor?

Often, yes. A fair bit of my work comes through agencies who need XR or real-time 3D on a project and do not have it in house. I am happy to work under your name rather than mine.

BASED NEARBY? LET'S TALK.

Send over your brief, or ask for a scoping day. I'll come back with an honest assessment of what's possible, how long it will take and what it will cost.
